This handbook provides guidance for full-time tenure track teaching faculty at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Tenure track positions for teaching faculty at the University of Hawaii are those meeting both of the following qualifications:
- Rank I3-I5 (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor)
- Assignment of a permanent position number (not suffixed by the letter T)

Important Dates
September 1, 2024 is this year’s deadline for submitting change of probationary period requests and/or waiver of minimum qualifications requests. Change of probationary period and waiver of minimum qualification requests should be routed to the Chancellor via the chair, division chair (if appropriate), dean/director, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
All requests for adjustment must be approved by the Chancellor before the dossier may be reviewed.
- Early promotion and extension requests (if applicable)
October 4, 2024, 4:30 pm (Application Deadline) is the deadline to submit contract renewal, promotion and/or tenure applications and materials (including TPRC exclusions) via eDossier portal.
