Instructional Technology and User Services
The mission of Instructional Technology and User Services (ITUS) is to provide assistance for faculty to use instructional technology (Software and Hardware). Specific responsibilities include installing new, maintaining existing, and troubleshooting problematic instructional equipment and facilities, and conducting training and workshops on how to use instructional technology.
ITUS provides the following services:

- Hawaiian Interactive Television System (HITS)

- Advanced informatics, visualization, simulation, and modeling services
Located in UCB 120, The help desk is the dispatching point for all service requests. Any trouble report or service request about classroom AV, computing hardware and software should be directed to the help desk. The help desk coordinator will assign the service request to the proper individual who will provide the service promptly. Located in Library 346, Audiovisual & Hawaiʻi Interactive Television System provides assistance for faculty and departments to use audio and visual equipment, PolyCom, and HITS for distance learning instruction. TV studio and audio recording booth are available for scheduled online classes, HITS classes, and live cable network shows. For assistance, please call the help desk at 932-7040, or 932-7328, or walk in Library 346 and see if staff is available to assist you immediately.
Future services of Audiovisual & Hawaiʻi Interactive Television System will include a 3D classroom, digital movie production, and Internet broadcasting.
Multimedia Classroom Management Service
Located in UCB 120, Multimedia Classroom Management Service will provide dedicated assistance for faculty and departments to use multimedia equipment in classrooms. Currently, permanent staff position is not available and the workload is sharing among all staff in ITUS. The proposed technical staff will perform new multimedia classroom equipment installation, maintenance services, troubleshooting for both on campus and distance learning multimedia instructional equipment and facilities. Training and Multimedia Development Service
Located in Library 358, Training and Multimedia Development Service provides dedicated hands-on training and workshop for faculty and staff to use instructional technology. Training and Multimedia Development Service also offers “Turn-key service” for online teaching to faculty who is not able to conduct in-classroom instruction temporally, or would like to put teaching materials online for distance learning students.
Requests for training on instructional technology and multimedia development can be made directly to Matthew Baldwin, or to the help desk at 932-7040, or 932-7041, or walk in Library 358 and see if staff is available to assist you immediately. Normally, the hands-on training and workshop will be held at library 359 multimedia classroom.
Distance Instruction and Course Design
ITUS offers one-on-one training and assistance in the development of online courses for distance learning. For technology training, contact Matthew Baldwin.

Instructional Technology Innovation and Development
Located in UCB120, Instructional Technology Innovation and Development provides assistance for faculty to conduct instructional research and new instructional technology development. These services include designing, fabricating, installing, and assisting grant applications for instructional technology innovation and development. Technology Support from UH System ITS
The UH system’s Information Technology System (ITS) also offers online help for faculty on general issues.

In addition, departments can purchase computer hardware and peripherals through the University, as well as certain software licensed for sale at the university at reduced prices.
