Instructor of Nursing (#84204) Position Description

UH Hilo, College of Natural and Health Sciences, School of Nursing (SON), full-time, non-tenure track, faculty appointment to begin August 2023, pending position clearance and availability of funding.

Duties

Teaching role includes the teaching equivalent of 12 credits teaching courses per semester in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN to BSN, and/or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs to include: classroom lectures, clinical practicum and labs, and courses delivered by distance education; advise students; engage in development of outcomes assessment; serve on SON committees and events; and participate in mandatory faculty meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing. Eligible for Hawaii RN licensure and other established professional and health requirements. Acute care experience in medical/surgical, obstetrical, mental health, and/or pediatric health care. Experience in teaching or working with undergraduate clinical nursing students in acute care, long term care, mental health, obstetrics and/or pediatrics settings, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position. Experience teaching culturally diverse student populations in the clinical setting.
Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Extensive experience with acute care adult health clinical instruction in BSN nursing program.
Experience with Asynchronous education technology and outcomes assessment. Experience coordinating clinical programs in undergraduate Baccalaureate nursing program with culturally diverse populations.

Pay Range

Commensurate with qualifications and experience
