Instructor of Spanish (#73322) Position Description
UH Hilo, College of Arts and Sciences, Humanities Division, European Languages Dept., non-tenure-track, full-time, general funds, permanent, nine-month appointment to begin approximately August 2024, pending position clearance and availability of funding.
Duties
Teach Spanish language courses (12 credits per semester). Provide academic advising to students. Participate in department, academic, university and community service.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Spanish Language from a college or university of recognized standing. Minimum of four (4) years teaching Spanish Language at the Associate Instructor level, or equivalent. Successful teaching with emphasis on diversity experience for student success. Experience in teaching the first two years (courses 101-102, 201-202) of Spanish Language. Native or near-native Spanish Language is required. Documented evidence of maintaining the required class enrollment level for 5 years.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in teaching in multiple modalities (online, face to face, hybrid, etc.) Experience in teaching diverse student populations with interest in developing pedagogical skills to do so. Evidence of excellence in teaching such as teaching awards or commendations. Previous experience overseeing a language lab and managing language tutors.
Pay Range
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
