University of HawaiÊ»i at Hilo, general funds, full-time, pending position clearance and availability of funding, to begin approximately August, 2013.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, responsible for providing overall academic leadership, administration and coordination of the College, including curriculum development and evaluation, human resources management, resources development, financial and academic planning, and faculty development, maintenance of AACSB accreditation, and development of graduate studies. The Dean will lead the College in the development of external funding sources, both private and research/training related, student recruitment efforts, and will encourage an entrepreneurial approach to educational planning and delivery.
An earned doctorate or the equivalent in a business discipline or economics; a minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders, preferably at a comprehensive university or college; rank of full professor or demonstrated record of comparable professional experience prior to appointment; demonstrated fundraising ability and experience; demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity and to working among and with multi-cultural populations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple constituencies; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituencies.
Demonstrated commitment to consultative processes and an understanding of shared governance; demonstrated ability to encourage and support innovative small business and entrepreneurship initiatives; substantial experience in economic development and/or public/private partnerships; demonstrated record of distinguished scholarship, research, publication, and/or professional activity and achievement.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
