Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
All UH Hilo students are entitled to pursue their personal and professional goals in a safe and healthy campus environment. With a goal of nurturing the development of students, we coordinate student accountability processes and support students who are facing challenges while addressing inappropriate behaviors that produce barriers to success. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs/Dean of Students (AVCSA/DOS) Office is dedicated to being a resource to students through support and advocacy in care, while promoting responsibility and accountability in administering community conduct through restorative justice. Additionally, the AVCSA/DOS also provides administrative support and institutional leadership for several key areas of University operations which includes Student Affairs divisional professional development, enhancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives (which includes oversight of the Women's Resource Center and the LGBTQ+ Center), and communications around campus and community resources, including UH Hilo Happenings for students.
The AVCSA/DOS Office maintains all student conduct records which are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Students may request a copy of their file and/or may give permission to have their files viewed by others (including third parties), by completing and submitting a Release of Information Form.
