Mission
The mission of the UH Hilo Advising Center is to promote student learning by assisting students in the development of educational plans that are compatible with their career and life goals. Students are empowered to take responsibility of their own decisions. The Career and Academic Advising Center delivers high quality advising in a caring and personalized atmosphere, and provides support and guidance to students so that they can accomplish their academic and career goals.
Primary Services Provided for Students
- Serve as the primary advisor to all freshman and “General”/undeclared students.
- Provide transfer advising and resources for incoming transfer students.
- Share relative campus resources tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Match students’ strengths and interests with opportunities at UH Hilo.
- Help students understand university requirements using STAR-GPS so they can graduate in a timely manner
- Guide students to develop a sense of purpose in their undergraduate education
