Seed Money Grants
Update March 2025: The Intramural Programs are supported through indirect costs via returned overhead from extramural grants (RTRF). Due to an uncertain and evolving situation in terms of federal grant money coming into UH, the program is being paused and applications for travel and seed money grants are not being taken at this time. Please check back on this webpage or contact Dawn Namahoe (namahoed@hawaii.edu) for updates.
The UH Hilo Seed Money Grants Program supports selected scholarly and creative activities of faculty for projects that will enhance their ability to obtain extramural funding. Grants in this program are highly competitive and proposals must be persuasively presented. Details of this program change from year to year.
BOR rules now require all RTRF to be spent in the year it is allocated. In general, you will have access to grant funds from the end of July to mid-April of the following year. Please plan your research project accordingly.
