IMUA FitnessCampus Recreation Department provides numerous opportunities for patrons to meet their fitness goals. Qualified staff and resources are available for group and personal instruction in a wide variety of classes such as Zumba, Yoga, Circuit Training and Spin. Non-credit activities are also available to provide educational experiences for a wide variety of interests. The activities offered include Dance, Martial Arts, Self-Defense, and Fitness Training classes. All Imua classes are free to members!

Campus Recreation Department is pleased to announce the addition of Valerie Yamaki as Fitness Coordinator for the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. (See bio)

Please be sure to complete the risk and release form located in the computer on the weight room desk before attending class.

Color Description:

Blue = Aerobics Room 1

Yellow = Aerobics Room 2

Class Descriptions:

Fit as a Fighter - Ideal for getting in shape, or supplementing your martial arts training. This class incorporates training in boxing and kickboxing.  You will build your strength, speed, stamina, resistance, and balance from this class.  There are also drill and boxing training so be sure to bring your MMA gloves, if you have some.

Spin - Want to burn about 300-450 calories in an hour while toning your quadriceps, outer thigh muscles, and stomach?  Then this class is for you! You will learn how to control and set your own pace on our world class bikes. You will also learn various core strengthening exercises that will help you move and function in your everyday life and help decrease injuries.

Yoga - This class integrates various yoga teaching from Hatha, Iyengar, and Astranga yoga.  It will help you to strengthen your body while also being able to calm your mind, body and spirit.

Zumba® - Fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program.  You will love this exhilarating hour of caloric-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements combined with core strengthening exercises.

Please note: All participants MUST sign the risk and release form located at the weight room desk, or in the Campus Rec office, before attending any of the above IMUA fitness classes. This schedule is subject to change at any time. Cancelled classes will be posted outside of the studio.

Classes are free with membership, so come and try a class!
