Intro to Beekeeping

Location: NHERC, 45-539 Plumeria St, Honoka'a

In the past 2 years, Hawaii Island has experienced a significant decline of honeybee populations. This does not only effect beekeepers but also farmers of coffee, macadamia nuts, melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, citrus, avocado and lychee. The need and desire to keep bees on farms or in back yards is growing everyday. In this course students will walk away with the skills to capture and maintain their own honeybee colonies. The beginning beekeeping course will have both in-class presentations and hands-on training with the honeybee colonies. In-class presentations will be held on Thursday evenings at NHERC and hands-on training will be held on Saturdays in Laupahoehoe and Ahualoa. 3/14-4/6 Thu (5-7:30p), Sat (10a-1p). Tuition is $150, $125 for the first 10 to register.

Special Restrictions: Tuition is $150, $125 for the first 10 to register.
