Building Community Through Conversation

Maunakea Stewardship

Join our Kuleana and Community Talk Story with Kaleo Pilago. Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Center for
Maunakea Stewardship. Pilago has been at UH Hilo since 2007, and has worked at Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. Discussions will focus on projects and activities that support the management and protection of Maunakea's natural and cultural resources; these include community engagement projects, hands-on stewardship opportunities, and culturally responsive program planning efforts. Another focus will be on how the incorporation of Native Hawaiian language, history and culture into daily operations, field projects and community outreach activities supports the University of Hawaii indigenous serving institution initiatives.

Friday 12 noon - 1 p.m.
Kilohana Academic Success Center (1st floor of Edwin Mookini Library)

Open to the public.

Light refreshments will be served.

Sponsored by UH Hilo Chancellor’s Office, Kīpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center, Kilohana: The Academic Success Center, Dr. Colby Miyose, Center for Global Education and Exchange, Dr. Alton Okinaka
