Climate Action in the Pacific

Location: Student Services Center Room W-201

Presentation by Dr. Tarisi Vunidilo of the UH Hilo Anthropology Department. This presentation will share some of the actions Pacific communities are doing to combat climate change. Climate change is affecting the whole world and the Pacific region
is the most vulnerable. Changing of weather patterns and the increase in cyclones has heightened the interest of islanders to be proactive and do something within their own communities instead of waiting for local governments and interventions from overseas nations to help them. Dr. Vunidilo will be sharing some case studies of how young people are making waves in the world of climate change dialogue in the Pacific as well as internationally. Sponsored by the International Student Services program and the United Nations Association-Hawaii Island Chapter. Free and open to the public.
