Eia Hawaiʻi Lecture Series: 21st Century Native Hawaiians

Location: UCB 127

Dr. Manulani Aluli Meyer has been a practitioner of hoʻoponopono for over 30 years. Her work has been in the field of indigenous epistemology (philosophy of knowledge) and its role in world-wide awakening. She has spoken world-wide and published extensively on the topic of native intelligence. Manu spent the past five years living and teaching in New Zealand where she developed He Waka Hiringa, a masters in Applied Indigenous Knowledge at Te Wānanga O Aotearoa, the largest Māori tertiary institution with 35,000+ students. Earning her doctorate from Harvard University in 1998, Manu was a former Associate Professor of Education at UH Hilo. Manu has recently returned to Hilo to serve as the Kanilehua Scholar-in-Residence and is teaching two special topic courses in the Kinesiology Exercise Sciences Program that she developed, Cultural Competencies and Hawaiian Health & Well-Being.
