The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo has announced new appointments for four administrators and staff.
Lois Fujiyoshi is named executive director of budget and business management and is to serve as chief budgetary and financial advisor to executive administration on all matters relating to budget, finance, accounting and cashiering. Fujiyoshi has over 27 years of experience in budget and fiscal services at UH Hilo, 10 years as budget director, and 17 years with the Business Office in the roles of business affairs and budget director and administrative officer. Fujiyoshi is recognized system-wide as a foremost subject matter expert in budget, procurement, finance and accounting, and cashiering.
Mason Kuo is named director of finance and accounting, with responsibility to serve as the primary fiscal officer for the UH Hilo campus, including off-campus operations, and to serve as subject matter expert for all financial management, accounting and fiscal related matters. Kuo has 11 years with UH, the last seven years with UH Hilo in progressively responsible positions of business office director and fiscal specialist. His knowledge and expertise in finance and accounting and focus on campus training and reporting for management decision making has contributed to operational efficiencies on campus.
Carrie Masanda is named director of procurement and contracts, with responsibility for directing and providing overall leadership, technical advice, interpretation and assistance as the campus subject matter expert and leader in the areas of contracts, procurement, disbursement of payments, and related fiscal management. Masanda has 13 years of experience with UH, the last three years with the UH Hilo Business Office as fiscal specialist, during which time her sound judgment and expertise in procurement has contributed to operational efficiencies.
Sang Son Sumida, senior fiscal specialist, will provide supervision and oversight for the cashiering section of the Business Management Office.
These placements are effective Dec. 1, 2016.
