This is the UH Hilo report. News about people, events and programs at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

A UH Hilo team has qualified to compete in the National Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) competition that will be held June 25-28, 2014 in Orlando, Florida following their recent performance at the statewide competition on O`ahu.

The all-freshman Public Service Announcement Team, captured first place with their 30-second PSA on “Educating the Community about Child Hunger.”

Sophomore Kimberly Cabreros finished first in Pharmacology, which measured proficiency at the recall, application and analysis levels related to a specific career or specialty.

Junior Mandee Miyake finished third overall in the Prepared Speaking category for the paper she authored and presented in a speech entitled “The Future Starts Now.”

And the UH Hilo team received an award for having the highest increase in membership in the Post Secondary Chapter for 2013-2014.
