For Immediate Release
The Interim Summer Session at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is currently underway, but students may register for the courses held during the traditional six-week summer session, June 15 to July 24, or they may select from a small number of courses offered at various times throughout the rest of the summer. Over 80 courses are still available in accounting, astronomy, biology, business, communication, economics, English, Hawaiian studies, history, kinesiology and leisure studies, marine science, mathematics, nursing, physics, psychology, sociology, tourism, and other disciplines.
In addition to scheduling courses with flexible schedules to accommodate the needs of the students, the registration process is changing. Students are now able to register online from the privacy and convenience of their own homes. Students may also register at the local library or may use computers located on the UH Hilo campus. Approximately 350 students are attending over 50 classes currently being held during the Interim Summer Session. Classes began for these students in mid-May and will continue until the beginning of the regular summer session.
UH Hilo is offering 39 online courses this summer. Internet-based courses provide learning that’s independent of time and location. Rather than gathering in a classroom, students meet online with instructors and classmates on the Internet via Laulima, the University of Hawaiʻi’s web course system.
For additional information or to request a catalog, call the College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at 974-7664 or email CCECS at firstname.lastname@example.org. Students also may complete the forms online at http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/forms/summer.php.
