For Immediate Release
Debbie Ogata, a clerk-typist at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, has been named the Administrative Affairs’ Employee of the Quarter.
Ogata’s nominator for the award wrote that she is “ultra-organized,” “dedicated” and “an excellent role model for other State of Hawai‘i workers.”
Ogata, who has been a University employee for 13 years and says she is looking forward to another 13, added that she was “quite surprised, really.”
“It's a real honor to be chosen,” she said. “There are so many others who also deserve to be recognized.”
Ogata’s penchant for neatness motivates her to do extra cleaning around the office, according to the nominator, who noted, “This improves our customer service because all her co-workers are able to quickly find and access needed information.” The nominator also wrote that Ogata’s cleaning makes for a more pleasant work environment.
The nominator also praised Ogata’s “excellent interpersonal skills,” adding, “but more important, Debbie is the most decent person you would ever care to know.”
As Employee of the Quarter, Ogata receives a plaque, a cash award, a $25 Sodexho meal card and a reserved parking space for the quarter.
