Maestro Ken Staton will direct the UH Hilo Orchestra plus choruses from both the University and the community in this 2005 composition that interpolates the usual movements of the Requiem Mass with a series of haiku settings in Japanese, with instrumentation including the Arabic darabuca, Japanese daiko and frame drums and the shakuhachi, played by master Dr. Riley Lee.

Tickets are $10 and $15 and are available at the Box Office or online at http://artscenter.uhh.hawaii.edu.

The event is co-sponsored by the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center, the UH Hilo Performing Arts Department and the Hawai‘i Concert Society, and is made possible by a generous grant from the Arthur and Mae Orvis Foundation.
