For Immediate Release

The University of Hawaii at Hilo is offering a three-credit course on conceptual quantum mechanics between June 13 and July 21, 2006. Classes for the course, PHYS 198, will be held Monday-Friday 8-9:30 a.m. at Wentworth Hall, Room 9, and will be taught by Philippe Binder, UH Hilo associate professor of physics. There are no physics or math prerequisites.

The course, which is designed for students without mathematics or science backgrounds, will develop the concepts of quantum physics in a solid, no-nonsense manner, starting with basic ideas of classical physics, continuing with a historical approach, and finally discussing applications.
