The University of Hawaii at Hilo Theatre announces auditions for Company, the Stephen Sondheim musical about love and marriage, on Monday and Tuesday, February 16 and 17, at 7:00 p.m. Adult actors are needed and will be expected to sing, read from the script, and move through a dance number. Sixteen bars of sheet music should be brought to the audition and songs should be in the singer's range.
Dubbed a "concept musical," Company centers on the New York loves of Robert, a single man whose friends are consumed with helping him live his life. The ensemble cast of 14 will create a number of Robert's married friends--both happily and unhappily so--and several of the women he is dating. They are all adults in New York City, at a time when the sixties are fading into the distance while the sexual revolution remains.
