This year’s Earth Day is a multi-day celebration for the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and Hawaiʻi Community College students, faculty and staff, K-12 students and educators, and community members beginning Friday, April 4 and featuring in-person activities on campus and in the community. The theme is I Ola ʻOe, I Ola Au, Together We Thrive. Registration is required and underway.
Lā Honua Earth Day events and activities open to the public include:
• Native Plants and Gardens Days:
April 4, 1-3 p.m, UH Hilo campus
April 5, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Hawaiʻi CC – Kō Education Center
• Community Stewardship Days:
April 11, 9 a.m. – Noon, in Hilo with Hui Hoʻoleimaluō
April 12, 8 a.m. – Noon, in Kona with Hawaiʻi CC – Pālamanui
April 21, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., in Hilo with Liko Nā Pilina
• Lā Honua Keynote with Sherri Mitchell and John Bear Mitchell, April 14, Noon - 1 p.m., virtual
• Conservation Career Day, April 17, Noon - 3 p.m., UH Hilo campus
• Global Earth Day event, April 22, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Hawai‘i CC – Manono campus, Kīpaepae, Keynote with K. Kuʻulei Kanahele, Cultural Workshops and ʻAi Pono
