For Immediate Release

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Division of Student Affairs repeats as one of the 2023 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by ACPA-College Student Educators International (ACPA) and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education. The announcement recognizes UH Hilo and 26 other schools nationwide. UH Hilo received this honor in 2019 and 2021.

The Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs award focuses on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment, and uses a web-based survey to examine family friendliness, salary and benefits, and professional development opportunities.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from ACPA,” noted Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Chris Holland. “As we undergo a new divisional strategic plan, DSA is committed to staying focused on reimagining the student experience and being laser focused on student success.

“DSA recognizes that our staff are on the front lines of working with students in their developmental journey and we must be as focused on staff development as well --from making great hires to onboarding to training and development,” he added. “I am very proud of the resilience of this team through the pandemic to continue to meet student needs while also staying motivated in our planning efforts.

“This recognition is reflective of their work and it is my privilege to work alongside such great people committed to students and their success.”
