Tween/Teen Art: Handmade Books teaches students to make handmade books for journaling, sketching, writing, or whatever inspires them. The course includes techniques for creating their own personalized cover as well as assembling and binding. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, June 3-7, from 3 pm – 5 pm, in UH Hilo’s PB-5. Cost is $65.

Instructor Leandra Keuma completed her BA in Communication with a minor in Sociology and received her Highly Qualified Teacher Certification from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. She is currently the owner and curator of Circle of Life Art Studio.

Students in Tween/Teen Art: Art Journaling will fill their art journals by recording thoughts, feelings, and experiences through a combination of words and art. They will learn a variety of techniques to create images of their lives, experimenting with sketching, color, and design. Classes will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, June 10-21, from 3 pm – 5pm in UH Hilo’s PB-5. Cost is $115.
