CCECS announces classes in basic guitar

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers a series of basic guitar instruction classes with classical musician and performer Artin Mardirousi.
Guitar Fundamentals, Level 1: Getting Started is designed for beginners. Participants learn about the various parts of the instrument, holding techniques, and how each string works individually as well as with one another. Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 16 - February 1, from 5-7 p.m. Tuition is $80.
Guitar Fundamentals, Level 2: Strumming and Picking teaches students new strumming and finger picking techniques. Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 6 – 22, from 5-7 p.m. Tuition is $80.
Guitar Fundamentals, Level 3: Scales and Bar Chords explores different scales and how they serve in creating melodies. Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 27 - March 15, from 5-7 p.m. Tuition is $80.
A discount package for taking all three levels costs $220. All classes will be held in UH Hilo’s Kanaka‘ole Hall, Room 122.
