NHERC announces October and November workshops

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo North Hawai'i Education and Research Center (NHERC) offers computer and agriculture workshops October 31 and November 7 at the Center, located at 45-539 Plumeria Street in Honokaʻa.
Intro to Microsoft Excel is designed for those who own or are thinking of starting a business. Instructor Alan Ku will show participants how to create spreadsheets and how to let the program do the accounting work. The session will be held on Saturday, October 31, from 9 – 2 p.m. Tuition is $35.
Edible Landscaping with Zach Mermel teaches the dos and don’ts of turning a lanai, lawn, field and fence into an abundant oasis of edible and multifunctional plants on Saturday, October 31, from 1-5 p.m. A handout of practical readings and resources is included. Tuition is $55.
Mermel will also conduct Edible and Medicinal Mushroom Cultivation, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 1-5 p.m. Participants will gain hands-on experience inoculating their own mushroom kits as well as logs, which can be taken home. Tuition is $85.
