For Immediate Release

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Art Department is currently accepting registration for its 2015 Summer Art Institute-Hilo (SAiH) program, which this summer is a six-week immersion drawing course with classes held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each Saturday beginning June 27 and continuing each weekend through Sunday, August 2.

The course is designed for beginning and advanced-level students and will explore traditional, digital and conceptual approaches to the discipline of drawing with sessions taught by a cohort of lecturers and visiting artists to keep participants engaged and challenged. Instruction includes a weekly group review on Sundays from 4 – 7 p.m. with SAiH faculty and staff.

Students enrolled in the course will have open studio access Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to midnight to further develop work initiated during instruction or to create new works.

Hawaiʻi residents can apply for a limited number of half tuition scholarships, and special summer session dorm rates are available for those in need of on-campus housing.
