UH Hilo alumnus to speak on UN career

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo graduate Colin Hourihan returns to his alma mater to deliver two, free public lectures on his career working with the United Nations World Food Programme. His lectures will be held Tuesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 9, from 8-9:15 a.m. in UCB Room 100.

Hourihan, who graduated in 2001 with a BA in Political Science, focusing on international relations and affairs, joined the programme in 2008. He has served as the Emergency Preparedness Officer and Civil Military Coordination Focal Point in Rome, Italy since 2012. His recent field deployment to the Philippines as Interim Head of Sub-Office focused on providing relief to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Hourihan previously worked with the Non-Violent Peaceforce in Romania and the Institute for Conflict Transformation and Peace Building in Austria.
