For Immediate Release
The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM) hosts a slideshow presentation by Agroforestry consultant Dave Sansone entitled “Climate Smart Agriculture X Agroforestry.” Sansone’s presentation will take place on Friday, October 24 at 7 p.m. in UCB Room 100. The event is free and open to the public.
Sansone is the owner of Agroforestry Design, LLC., which offers agroforestry and permaculture consultation services on Hawai’i Island. Since 2002, he has developed low-input/effort agroforestry models, and has worked with over 1,000 species of plants in a diversity of climates, conditions, and cultivation systems.
Participants will learn how to address and adapt to climate change while meeting their current needs by developing productive agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gasses and sequester increasing amounts of carbon while improving the soil. Sansone will cover a wide range of topics including no-till and bio-till farming, biological weed control, mulch crops, and more.
The event is sponsored by CAFNRM and Agroforestry Design, LLC and will include free rare and uncommon plants.
