For Immediate Release

Niegel Rozet, a Marine Science junior at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, has received invitations to make presentations at two international events on the research he conducted in his Marine Science class, “MARE 488 Kuula: Integrated Science.”

Rozet partnered with Anthropology major Iolani Kauhane to study the ecology of the manini fish (Hawaiian Convict Tang), drawing from Native Hawaiian celestial time-keeping techniques and quantitative ecology.

He recently presented his findings on the process and outcome of their research at the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council Workshop in Saipan, CNMI. Rozet will later travel to the Czech Republic in July where he will make a presentation to the Annual Meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists in Prague.
