Editor's Note
Aloha mai kākou,
Hopefully everyone had a much needed and deserved spring break, whether you traveled off island to see family or new places, or to enjoy the bipolar weather we had here in Hilo. With the vacation portion over, it is time to buckle down and prepare for all of the upcoming happenings, from Merrie Monarch to finals to figuring out what you’re going to do with your life after school. Be sure to take advantage of all of the resources available this time of year, especially the cultural events available due to Merrie Monarch.
This month, we took a deep dive into the interworkings of Campus Center, from the ongoing construction to the stipend pay structure that CSOs like Ke Kalahea operate on. We will also be covering issues brought up in the Board of Regent’s meeting last month, many of which will directly affect University of Hawaiʻi students and faculty statewide. On a lighter note, we also covered fun events on campus, like International Night and last month’s basketball game. We are also excited to introduce a new member to the team, who you can learn more about in this issue.
We are happy to say that some of the stories featured this month did arise from student and faculty suggestions, so we encourage you all to offer suggestions on any ideas or concerns you believe are important to be shared with the rest of the UH Hilo community. Suggestions can be shared online through email and social media, or come see us in person at our office or monthly events.
Noʻu me ka mahalo,
Pualani Ovono
