Ride Hele-On for Free. Last year two students, Eddie Roberts and Lloyd Taira, developed a proposal for a subsidized bus service for students at UH Hilo. Their proposal was enthusiastically received by all student governments who allocated funds for the service. As a result of their efforts, students from all three campuses have the opportunity throughout the entire 1985-86 academic year to ride the Hele-On bus at no charge on all routes throughout the island of Hawaiʻi. In order to use this service, a student must show either a current UH Hilo identification card or a pink registration slip to the bus driver. Pick up points for the UH Hilo are on Kapiolani Street in front of the Old Gym and in front of HCC Administration Building. Further information and current bus schedules are available at the Campus Center Information Desk
