Spring 2018: January 8th Issue 1

Letter from the Editor

Aloha all,

Welcome to the start of the new semester! Whether you’re graduating this spring or are just starting to find your feet here at UH Hilo, Ke Kalahea is here to keep you informed and entertained throughout the coming months. This issue we have a few faculty profiles, some sustainability information, an update on net neutrality, and a good old-fashioned temporal irregularity.

We do have to note some misinformation in one of our previous issues brought to our attention by a concerned community member. In “Editorial: Venture Big Island” that appeared in our Nov. 20 issue, we ran a photograph of students swimming and paddle boarding in Kiholo Fishpond. This particular fishpond is actually private property, run by The Nature Conservancy for environmental and cultural programs. As such, recreational activities are prohibited there.

Now good luck with your first week of classes!

Nick Carrion
Editor in Chief, Ke Kalahea
