I love traveling across northern California to visit all my family and friends during winter break. I use my free time to go hik- ing with my best friend, watch the sunset over the headlands, see the Golden Gate Bridge at night, and enjoy sitting on the couch watching movie marathons. I espe- cially enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace with my dog until my back starts burning; I get up for a little bit to cool down and then go back and do it again.

I love getting all my holiday shopping early on in the season to avoid standing in long lines at the post office. I plan a camping trip with my keiki at the onset of winter break. At home, the elves are constantly up to mis- chief, getting into this or that, and leaving holiday treats in the most ridiculous plac- es. I cook big, scrumptious meals for fami- ly and friends that provide us leftovers and full bellies for days. I blast the classic songs like, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” throughout the house. Santa Claus always seems to find virtue in us and drops a sleighful of gifts. My family and I love the magic, spirit of giving and the gatherings.

On Christmas Eve, my mom and I bake her grandmother’s sugar cookie recipe, which creates a ridiculous amount of cookies, even for my family. We’re lucky enough to have some of the cookie cutters she used in the rotation! Mostly it’s an opportunity to frost Santa’s beard green and force other wacky designs on the standard holiday shapes.

I like decorating. I like it a lot. My favorite part is standing back, looking at my handiwork, and then adjusting that last little piece of the display. I also love decorating the Christmas tree, which usually involves jokes, bickering, and hot chocolate.

I love putting on some christmas movie classics and baking holiday cookies or making gingerbread houses while bundled up in pajamas. Also finally getting to decorate / put up the christmas tree always makes me happy.

I like to capitalize on the cold weather and time off to watch as many movies as I can. Spending time with family while checking title after title off of my miles long watchlist.

Usually I’m in San Diego for Christmas, so I really love bundling up and going to the ice skating rink! I love the feeling of the wind rushing past me as I tilt and dodge all around the crowded circle. Afterwards, I like to warm up with a hot drink and watch some movies with my dad.

I love baking all of the holiday cookies and giving them to friends and family. I also love to bundle up and binge all the TV shows and movies I’ve been waiting all semester to watch!
Kevianna Hawkins-Adams
For the holidays, I love helping with cooking holiday meals and playing board games with my family. We also enjoy going out to the movies, especially drive-in movies. This year we are very excited to be able to visit Disneyland for Christmas day, which will be the first time as a family since I was a little kid.
Shanxi Nakaʻahiki
Luckily, I’m from Alaska. So, I get to spend all my time doing all of the fun winter activities. My family enjoys sledding down very steep hills & ice skating on frozen lakes. Then to warm up we start a fire in the fireplace, make some hot cocoa, & binge watch Christmas movies.
