Summary:
This document gives a very brief popular description of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. Lake Waiau was sounded a short time before, and was found to be only 40 ft deep at the maximum. Terraces near the boundary between South Kohala and North Kona, at 1,000 and 2,000 ft altitude, are believed to be of marine origin, suggesting that the land had risen by that amount.
