Summary:
The Master Plan for the Mauna Kea Science Reserve and Hale Pohaku is intended to protect natural and cultural resources, educational and research resources and recreational resources. The Management Plan establishes new management practices and other measures aimed at preserving and protecting those resources. The Physical Plan, and the actions proposed therein, is intended to avoid substantive impacts and enhance the natural habitat, culturally-significant areas and recreational uses. The new Management Plan will implement measures to protect and enhance the resources of the Science Reserve and Hale Pohaku. As such, the potential impacts of the Physical Plan and Management Plan may be beneficial as listed in this document. Also listed are adverse impacts that may be expected to occur as well as proposed mitigative measures.
