Summary:

This study, as requested by the University of Hawaii, includes the compilation and evaluation of soil data from previous studies on the summit of Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii, for the University of California at Santa Cruz and the interpretation of data and development of soil design values for the project architect, MBT Associates. Included in this document are the results of the preliminary geotechnical services that was performed by Harding Lawson Associates for the University of California's ten-meter telescope for which construction is planned on a cinder cone that is in the vicinity of other observatories that operate on Mauna Kea.
