Summary:
Mr. Akiyama briefs Dr. Kuiper about the meeting held in Honolulu among Representatives Hara and Serizawa. Rep. Hara indicated that University of Hawaii officials have a definite moral and ethical obligation to the University of Arizona due to the latter's pioneering work in discovering Mauna Kea as a premier site. As a result, UH may choose to develop the program on their own and invite or allow other universities to use facilities. Dr. Hiatt is now taking responsibility of making decisions regarding to Mauna Kea programs.
