- Informed Governor Burns of the recent restructuring of Mauna Loa Observatory. MLO will serve as a bench mark station to monitor CO2, air pollutants, SO2 and ozone. However, the access road, 18 miles of gravel road, hampers the development of MLO. Mr. Ruhnke requested assistance in upgrading and hard resurfacing the road to improve the working conditions for the staff and visiting researchers.
