Summary:
The memoirs of the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum describes ancient Hawaiian stone implements such as Hawaiian Fishing stones, Papamu for Konane, (a wooden board used for a favorite game of the Hawaiians), Axes and Adzes, Handles for the Adzes, in addition to descriptions of Chisels and Gouges. Included are illustrations of these stone implements plus adzes from various areas of the South Pacific. Also illustrated are handles of adzes from New Guinea, and Micronesia as well as a ceremonial adzes from Mangaia.
