Summary:
GTE Hawaiian Tel has started work to connect Mauna Kea, Hilo, and Waimea with fiber optic cables. UH also contributed to the project. The latest USGS map shows that Mauna Kea has four glaciers. The oldest formed 280,000 years ago and the youngest formed 13,000 ago. Howard B. Keck, who funded the Keck telescopes, died at 83.
