- Summary:
- Weather conditions create temporal and spatial variations that influence the observing quality. This study investigated the meteorological conditions that affect astronomical observing quality on Mauna Kea. Cirrus-cloud generation and turbulence in the free atmosphere are linked to synoptic scale weather conditions, while the turbulence in the surface boundary layer is related to mesoscale circulation features and local effects.
