Summary:
This study focused on the high-resolution inner model for the nocturnal case simulation around 1 August 1984 in Hilo as a part of Joint Hawaii Warm Rain Project. The results indicated that the Hawaiian cloud bands are closely linked to the strongly stratified flows past three-dimensional obstacles. Nocturnal surface cooling caused the downslope flow to double in depth and strength within the downslope flow.
