- Even though post-colonization contact between the West and East Polynesia regions were generally thought to have remained isolated from one another following human settlement, this document describes how evidence demonstrates significant interaction with West Polynesia during the early phase of the Southern Cook Islands prehistory through adzes that were found in the Ngati Tiare cache that were likely derived from Samoa.
