Mauna Kea volcano Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project Lava analysis
Summary:
This study compares the Mauna Kea lavas from the lower 776 m drill core recovered during the Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project with previously studied lavas exposed on the subaerial flanks of the volcano, as well as with submarine lavas at water depths of 1.6 to 3.3 km. It also identifies and interprets the compositional variations of Mauna Kea lavas in the drill core.
