Summary:
In this document, the author, a tenth grader at HPA, describes birding that he did in four areas on the island of Hawaii during the Spring and Winter months and at various elevations. In the rain forest that is located behind Waimea School, the iiwi, apapane, amakihi, and elepaio were seen. In Waipio, numerous aukuu and a pair of hawks were seen. In Pololu, several pairs of hawks were sighted as well as white-tailed tropicbirds that were nesting on the cliffs. Nene, hawks, pheasants, cardinals, chukar and Chinese quail, and a Palila (Aves Hawaiiansis), were seen at various elevations on Mt. Hualalai.
