Summary:
This document describes a film that was produced by Na Maka o ka 'Aina under the direction of Puhipau and Joan Lander. This film comes from the Hawaiian activists' point of view and describes the controversies and concerns that surround Mauna Kea regarding the massive telescope development that has occurred at the summit of this mountain that is considered sacred to the kanaka maoli -- the native Hawaiian people. The film also explores the concerns of the environmental community, loss of habitat, endangered species and pollution of the aquifer while the presentation of the Hawaiian spiritual perspective is the main focus.
