Summary:
This study investigates the effects of the leaf pubescence and parabolic rosette geometry on thermal balance of a subspecies of a giant Hawaiian rosette plant that is known as the Argyroxiphium sandwicense. This species is a member of the silversword alliance that grows above the 2000 meter elevation in the subalpine zone of two Hawaiian volcanoes -- Haleakala, on the island of Maui, and Mauna Kea, on the island of Hawaii.
