Summary:
The authors described the geography of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa as well as the saddle area between them. The sheep ranch and meteorological station of Humuula are located at 2-3 miles east of the center of the saddle. A table of temperatures at Hilo and Humuula was provided. Wind and rainfall characteristics were also described for various regions including Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hale Pohaku, and Lake Waiau from the data of 1935 and 1939 expeditions.
