Summary:
This document describes a decrease in population of the Mauna Kea silversword, Argyroxiphium sandwicense ssp. sandwicense. This population decrease was associated with an increase in alien ungulate populations on Mauna Kea and a population bottleneck that has been associated with the reintroduction of this plant. Using eight microsatellite loci, the genetic consequences of both of these demographic events are addressed in this paper.
