The ʻŌmaʻo, (Myadestes obscurus), is a native Hawaiian Thrush that is found in mesic and wet forests above the 300-meter elevation and in the sub-alpine scrub on Mauna Loa, on the island of Hawaiʻi. Methods to determine the age and sex of ʻŌmaʻo, were developed on the basis of 66 museum specimens and 149 live ʻŌmaʻo that were captured in mist nets on the island of Hawaiʻi. The methods used for aging and sexing this native bird are reported in this document.
